Individual & Family Therapy for Parents

Most parents feel overwhelmed after having a baby— you are sleep deprived, you don’t know what you are doing, and you barely get the time to take a shower or eat a decent meal.

If you are a new parent experiencing stress during this transition, know that you are not alone.

You are doing the best you can, but you feel guilty for not being enough to your kids or your partner, and this feeling never seems to go away.

If you are feeling trapped, having scary thoughts, experiencing mood swings and out-of-control emotions or behaviors, or are worried at all about how you are feeling—therapy can help you get the support and care you need to get relief and start enjoying your life and relationships again.

I work with parents and families who are struggling with:

  • pregnancy and postpartum depression/anxiety

  • adjustment to parenting, stress, depression, and anxiety

  • traumatic medical or birth experiences

  • parent-child bonding and relationship difficulties

  • breastfeeding challenges

  • adjustment to medical conditions/complications

  • family relationship conflict

  • financial or work stress

  • sleep difficulties

  • postpartum support for fathers/partners

Couples Therapy

Since having a baby, You don’t have the energy for romance or sex, and it might even be the last thing on your mind right now.

You’ve gotten so wrapped up in parenting and working to support your growing family that you’ve neglected your relationship. Maybe your partner just doesn’t understand what it’s been like for you to go through these changes. The harder you try, the more it feels like you are getting it wrong.

You miss that spark.

You crave the connection that you had before.

You are worried that becoming parents has ruined your relationship.

Most couples experience a drop in their relationship satisfaction after having kids—but it doesn’t have to be disappointing and hopeless. You can have intimacy and enjoy being a couple while parenting together.

With couples therapy, I will help you get to the heart of the issues driving a wedge between you and support you in building new routines to:

  • nurture romance, intimacy, and sex in your couple relationship

  • adapt to the changes of your growing family

  • strengthen your parenting relationship and co-parenting style

  • build friendship and emotional connection

  • have more productive communication and less arguing

Getting help can make a radical difference in your daily life and relationships.
