Moving through time, as lovers and parents postpartum
Parenthood is taking your relationship to a whole new level.
Prepare and strengthen your relationship as you navigate the changes that parenthood brings.
You’ve purchased all the baby gear, the nursery is set up, you’ve completed your childbirth education classes, and your hospital bag is packed.
You are feeling as ready as you can be for this birth and bringing your baby home.
But what about preparing for the transformation your relationship will go through when the baby comes?
Even the strongest relationships are strained during the transition to parenthood— 2/3 of new parents experience conflict, disappointment, and hurt feelings.
Lack of sleep, never-ending housework and new financial worries can lead to high stress and decline in relationship satisfaction — all of which affect baby’s care.
This evidence-based couples workshop focuses on strengthening the foundation of the couple relationship for co-parenting and long-term relationship satisfaction to support your growing family.
Bringing Baby Home is research-tested. Studies compared parents who took the program to parents who did not take the program, and followed their families over the course of three years.
Compared to couples who did not take the workshop, couples who took the workshop:
Couple Relationship Quality
expressed less hostility during conflict discussions.
reported higher, stable relationship quality.
decreased likelihood of divorce.
Infant Development
One-year-old infants of parents who took the program showed less language delays.
Mothers rated their babies as showing less distress to limitations (such as having a toy out of reach).
Babies responded more positively to their fathers’ soothing
Father Involvement
Fathers reported being more involved in parenting and feeling more satisfied and appreciated for their parental contributions.
The quality of father-baby interactions was more positive.
Parent-Baby Relationship
Parents showed greater sensitivity and responsiveness to their infant’s signals.
Parents demonstrated better co-parenting abilities and ability to work together more positively during family play.
Babies expressed more smiling and laughter during family play.
Parent Mental Health
Fewer mothers showed symptoms of postpartum depression, baby blues, and other mental health issues.
Fewer fathers showed signs of depression or anxiety.
